You Are Invited To High Tea

On today's blog we would love to share a fun idea for your Bridal Shower - a tea party. It is such a cute idea that our very own Katie is having one for her shower in July.

The invitations: invite your guests to a "bridal high tea" or a "tea party" in honour of your bride. One cute idea is to address your envelopes with a Downton Abbey feel, for example "Lady Kathryn of Silverberry" or "Lady Kira of Terra Losa". We highly recommend Shara from I Do Invitations if you need some inspiration.

The decor: this is where Details Vintage Decor Rentals comes in. Imagine hanging lanterns, cafe lighting and mismatched chairs on the lawn. Your tables will be donned with lots of lace, old books and glass vases filled with flowers. We can also provide you with the most important pieces - over 30 matching cup and saucer sets. Drink from them, hang them from trees or create centrepieces. The possibilities are endless.

Stand available in white only
The food: Small, tiny, petite. A standard afternoon tea (as per the BBC) comprises of layer sandwiches, layer cakes,  pastries and petit fours. We absolutely love the idea of macarons (try to Mirabelle Macarons in Edmonton) to match the bride's colours. Details Vintage Decor Rentals has a large selection of china plates in addition to several cake and cupcake stands.

The attire:Invite your family and friends to dress the part. Nothing says tea time like big hats, parasols and floral dresses.

We would love to help you plan your tea party bridal shower. Please don't hesitate to drop us a line.

Our Details

First and foremost welcome to our new blog!

We thought we would do a quick entry to introduce you to the women of Details Vintage Decor Rentals.

The concept of "Details" was sparked in early 2013 when we noticed a huge gap in the Edmonton rental industry. We were helping a girlfriend plan her vintage inspired wedding and had an absolute horrible time finding what we wanted. Of course there are the major rental companies in the city - but there was no one that specialized in vintage decor. Right after our friend's wedding, in September of 2013, we began Details Vintage Decor Rentals. Whether you are a bride-to be, event planner, photographer or just someone looking for some neat decor - we can help.

Meet Kira...

My background and how it relates to Details:
I have always loved everything to do with designing and decorating beautiful spaces.  As a teen, I thought it was fun to collect paint chips and wallpaper samples, building my "kit", painting and repainting my bedroom furniture and walls, and finding a new DIY that challenged me to learn new skills. As an adult, I executed my passion with an education from the University of Alberta Residential Interiors Program.

Vintage Decor has and will always have a soft spot in my heart. Vintage brings a story to an event, it encompasses warmth, character and charm. I am excited to help our client's visions come to life with our vintage finds.

Something quirky about me:
I see something neat and I immediately think...I can make that! Sometimes I can impress even myself with my DIY creations, and other times it's an ultimate fail...  regardless, the crafty bug is in me and it's here to stay.

My favorite trend for 2014:
GOLD!! I love gold accents right now. We are seeing it in fashion, in decorating and most definitely in wedding décor!

Why Katie is a so awesome:
Katie is that friend that everyone requires one of!  She is smart, funny, quirky and incredible witty.  I call her my techno-whiz because she is remarkable with technology (...which is great because I am basically technologically impaired).  Katie brings energy and life to all that surround her.  Most of all, Katie is an amazing friend and I am so happy that we can call each other partners!

Meet Katie...

My background and how it relates to Details:
If I had to sum my professional experience up in one word it would be "marketing". Now if I had more words I would say I have spent the past 8 years tweeting, liking, posting, advertising, event planning, graphic designing, blogging, pinning, fundraising, hashtagging, web designing - just to name a few. I am a marketing guru (I forgot about tooting my own horn) with a Marketing Diploma from NAIT and a Bachelor of Management from Concordia. I would like to think that these skills have helped to launch Details Vintage Decor Rentals into the Edmonton Wedding Industry.

Something quirky about me:
I am a crazy hedgehog lady. I am allergic to anything cute and cuddly so I have hedgehogs. Kinda cute, and definitely not cuddly. I adopted my first hoglet, Snowball, six years ago. Since then she has had three sisters, Snuffles (passed away), Daisy and Abigail. I feel that three is not enough, however my fiancé assures me it is. I have hedgehog measuring cups, christmas decorations, candles and stuffed animals. I knew my fiancé was "the one" when he picked up Snowball, tickled her, and spoke to her like she was a cat or dog.

My favorite trend for 2014:
This is a tough one to answer, as Kira is usually the one to tell me what is "in". Ha! I think that DIY weddings are going to become even more popular this year. With a huge hand from Pinterest, future brides are realizing that they can minimize their wedding budget by creating their own invitations, decor and flowers. We would like to consider ourselves a DIYWH company. Do It Yourself With Help. We provide brides with DIY inspired decor items at a very low price, cheaper than doing it themselves.

Why Kira is a so awesome:
As mentioned before - Kira is my "what's in" girl. Whether it is fashion (she always looks amazing) or decor (always has a new idea), Kira is in the know. She is always positive and keeps me excited about the future of our company. Her strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa. I couldn't ask for a better partner.
